Google Doodle goes green for Earth Day

No Easter doodle yet
Google Doodle goes green for Earth Day. internet, online, google, Google doodles, Earth Day, 0

You just knew that there would be a new Google Doodle today didn't you? But we bet you thought it was going to be an Easter related one, what with it being the middle of Paschal Triduum - otherwise know as Good Friday?

But you'd be wrong as Google has chosen to ignore the Easter Bunny's birthday once again (we haven't seen any Google Easter Doodle action since 2005) and tip its hat instead in the direction of Earth Day.

But we're not going to complain too much, as Earth Day is a very meaningful event - even if it is one that doesn't involve us stuffing our faces full of chocolate.

According to the official website, Earth Day's "year-round mission is to broaden, diversify and activate the environmental movement worldwide, through a combination of education, public policy, and consumer campaigns."

And Google has chosen to illustrate that with a running river, some hiding pandas (Google Panda reference perhaps?), and some diving penguins. Lovely stuff.

It's the 40th year of the Earth Day event, and it is celebrated by 500 million people worldwide. Get involved at earthday.org.
