HP deals slip-up spills names of upcoming webOS devices
The big HP webOS event kicks off at 6pm UK time, but already little details are beginning to emerge - such as the official name of the devices.
The codenamed HP Topaz is to be called the TouchPad (HP TouchPad or Palm TouchPad - not yet clear) and kudos goes to the chaps over at PreCentral.Net who uncovered the name after eavesdropping at a rehearsal for the big event.
They also heard that the device will weigh 1.5 pounds (680g) and measure 13mm thick.
We know that HP/Palm will be launching the 9ish-inch webOS tablet at the event, alongside a 7-inch webOS tablet labelled Opal. And there's also the rumour of the Palm Mansion smartphone - a supposed webOS 2.0 smartphone with a 5-inch screen.
So stick around to Pocket-lint for the next couple of hours to find out.
In related news, San Fran tech pundit Robert Scoble?is claiming to have played with a new Palm phone as well:
"The smallest little phone I’ve ever seen. It’s like a large pebble in your hand. Smooth and really nice to hold," says the Scobilzer without going into ant detail. "This still sucks as a competitor for the iPhone or Android.?But they’ve made it so small now that the thing I hated (small screen, which isn’t good for really doing work) is now an attribute."
It's supposedly launching today as well.?
Stay tuned.?
UPDATE: Seems Palm has leaked the new TouchPad on its site. An eagle eyed tipster has sent in a link to Engadget. We've zipped over to the site to find the same "deal".?
It lists the HP Veer, Pre 3 and TouchPad, claiming WebOS is available in S, M, and L.
