We are happy to announce a great new event being hosted by Seattle 2.0: Seattle Tech-N-Tell, a networking and product demo night, where six startups will go on stage and show their products to an audience of smart and cool entrepreneurs, pre-entrepreneurs, investors, press, geeks and startup aficionados. The event will be Tuesday, February 22, at The Crocodile in Seattle starting at 5:45PM. You can register today.
Seattle TNT is the first time we are doing a small-ish event (100-200 people) and we’ll try to make it a recurring event (once a quarter?). So this first one will be an experiment to see what works and how it works. Call it an MVP event.
Do we need another pitch event in Seattle?
There is about a half-dozen pitch events in Seattle and I think we need more, but Seattle TNT is *not* a pitch event! It’s a demo event! What’s the difference? On a pitch event the goal is to raise money so the presenters talk about the business, the revenue model, the fund raising, the team, the size of the industry, and of course, the product.
Seattle TNT being a demo event, startups will go on stage and show their products, either through live demos – if possible – or showing screenshots and explaining how the product works.
If you are a startup and you want to get some buzz this will be a great opportunity. Most startups die because they fail to break through the noise. Seattle TNT might help you to be noticed by the press, by candidates, by investors and by potential partners.
How can I help?
First and foremost, register to attend the event. This will show your support for the tech startup community in Seattle. We are not doing this event to make a profit. We are doing it because we think Seattle needs it.
Also, bring a friend with you. Give them a taste of the startup industry. We think this is a great job search opportunity for developers, designers and business folks who want to break into the startup industry. Even for those looking for a co-founder, this is the kind of event they should be attending.
If you have a startup and you’d like to demo your product, apply to present. It’s free. It doesn’t matter what stage your product is in, as long as it’s running. And if you don’t feel confident about your presentation skills, you should either stop doing a startup or get real, practice and go on stage.
Finally, we are looking for sponsors to contribute to the “prize basket” that will be given to one of the startups that will win of the Dynamite Award. Contact us to learn more about sponsorship opportunities.
